Disco Soup, 26th March, 2016

Disco Soup aims to raise awareness and fight against food waste by diverting food that was headed to the bin towards our bellies instead, all while grooving to some local tunes. Over the previous three events, we’ve avoided hundreds of kilos of food waste while building more sustainable communities here in Edinburgh.

It’s back, and this time at the Forge in Fountainbridge! Join us and Foodsharing Edinburgh for the city’s 4th Disco Soup. We’ll start the food prep at 12 noon, with a day of chopping, eating, and dancing to follow!

The Forge is located in a post-industrial field in between the streets Viewforth and Gilmore park next to the Union Canal.

There will also be workshops:

Bikes for Refugees (supporting new members of our community with bikes). Bring any old or uneeded bikes of safety equipment to donate!

The Pianodrome ("a bespoke apocalypse-chic 100 seater amphitheatre made entirely out of 30 freegan upright pianos") is in construction at the Forge. On saturday the prototype will be there for playing, as well as a whole container of upcycled pianos - learn about this exciting, experimental community project.

Portnawak & The Woo will be providing the tunes from 4pm.

Re-Act Scotland, 17th December 2015

http://www.re-act.scot/

Studio 24, Edinburgh hosted Little X-Mas, a fundraiser for Re-Act, Refugee Action Scotland with Bristol Branch and Portnawak & The Woo.

Re-Act, Refugee Action Scotland, is a not-for-profit humanitarian aid project launched in response to the worldwide refugee crisis. It is part of a growing organisation throughout the UK, working to fundraise and collect vital donations from all over Scotland to transport to the refugee camps in Calais and throughout other crisis areas of Europe.
Re-Act aims to help raise awareness of the growing crisis that many in our government and much of the mainstream media refuse to support.

Visit http://www.re-act.scot/ for more info and to find out ways in which you can help.

Do it.

Three Hares Community Woodland Celebration

Portnawak & The Woo were delighted to be playing round a fire at the first Three Hares Community Woodland event on the land.  It was frosty, and fingers were numb, but we left glowing.
